Eight CRPF troopers injured in Srinagar-Jammu highway accident

At least eight troopers were injured after a truck collided with a CRPF Casper near Goripora Crossing of Awantipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Official sources told a local news agency, Kashmir News Trust (KNT) that a truck (JK02V-6165) hit a CRPF vehicle (JK02CN 2597) of 130 Battalion on the Srinagar-Jammu Highway, resulting in the injuries of eight CRPF men.

The injured were shifted to PHC Awantipora where doctors referred two of them to Srinagar hospital for specialized treatment.

The injured troopers have been identified as Head Constable Narish Kumar, HC Pankaj Prasad, HC Poonam Chand, Constable Ogay Mogay Balchandra, HC Badi Patal, HC Himansho Haldar and Suresh Kumar.

Police in this regard registered a case under relevant sections of law.

Meanwhile, an army vehicle coming from Jammu to Srinagar skidded off the road near Damjan Qazigund area on Srinagar-Jammu Highway. However, there was no loss of life reported. (KNT)
