DDC re-poll: Independent candidate backed by NC wins Drugmullah seat

An independent candidate supported by National Conference won the Drugmullah district development council seat by a razor-thin margin.

According to details, advocate Aminah Majeed, who had filed nomination papers as an independent candidate in 2020 but was supported by NC, managed to win by a slim margin of 39 votes.

Aminah secured 3259 votes while her nearest rival Shabnam Rehman managed to get 3220 votes. Shabnam had filed nomination papers as Peoples Democratic Party candidate in 2020, but was supported by Peoples Conference.

Interestingly, PDP-supported candidate Rifat Jan polled less votes than candidates of BJP, Apni Party and Congress.

While Rifat Jan secured 612 votes, BJP, Apni Party and Congress candidates respectively polled 877, 1474 and 746 votes. (KNO)
