DDC elections: Four polling booths in J-K to go for re-polling

The election authorities have ordered re-polling in four polling stations of Poonch’s Poshana area, adding that the voting will be conducted on 19 December.

Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), these four polling stations are located in Poshana area of Surankote tehsil and fall in Bufliyaz District Development Council (DDC) constituency where voting was held in the first phase.

Officials said that a day ahead of voting in Poshana, snowfall was received in the area forcing authorities to shift polling stations at alternate locations following which the voter turnover remained low less than fifty percent.

“The locals and PRIs of the area had submitted representations to district administration Poonch and higher authorities demanding re-polling with Jammu and Kashmir State Election Commissioner have ordered re-polling at four polling stations of Poshana A and Poshana B panchayats of Surankote,” the officials said.

District Election Officer (DEO) and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Poonch, Rahul Yadav confirmed and said that voting at four polling stations will be held on 19 December during the eighth phase of ongoing DDC elections. He informed that voting will take place for DDC only. (KNO)
