Srinagar: Authorities in Mendhar have tightened lockdown restrictions after a fresh positive case of COVID-19 was reported from the town in Poonch district.
The restrictions on the movements of people and private vehicles were tightened on Sunday as one COVID-19 case was reported in Surankote area.
The police and paramilitary forces have sealed off the main roads in most places and installed barriers to enforce the lockdown, stated reports.
An official told that essential services, including healthcare personnel’s movement, are exempted from the restrictions. “Only people with valid movement passes are allowed passage,” he said.
Block Medical Officer, Mendhar, Dr. Parvaiz Ahmad Khan, told that the people are requested to remain indoors to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
“I appeal people of Mendhar to stay home. Stay away and maintain social distancing to keep COVID-19 pandemic away,” he said. (GNS)
