With a sharp decline in COVID-19 cases, India has recorded 553 new cases in the last 24 hours, after witnessing 723 deaths a day earlier, taking the fatality count to 403,310.

The country recorded 34,703 new coronavirus infections in a single day, lowest daily count in nearly four months, pushing the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 30,619,932, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Tuesday.

The active number of Covid-19 cases in the country is 4,64,357 while 29,752,294 people have recovered from the virus so far.

So far, the world has reported 184,939,383 Covid-19 cases since the pandemic broke with 4,000,841 deaths. The US remains the worst-hit country, followed by India, Brazil, France and Russia.
