India recorded 2,542 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the fatality count to 379,601.
The country recorded 62,224 new coronavirus infections in a single day, pushing the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 29,633,105, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Wednesday.
The active number of Covid-19 cases in the country is over 8,65,432 while 2,83,88,100 people have recovered from the virus so far.
So far, the world has reported 177,414,471 Covid-19 cases since the pandemic broke with 3,838,506 deaths. The US remains the worst-hit country, followed by India, Brazil, France and Turkey.
