Srinagar : Five people have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.

With this the total number of cases in the Union Territory has sprung up-to 74. Among the new five, four are from Kashmir and one from Jammu division.

“75 COVID-19 cases have been reported in Jammu and Kashmir, with 5 cases being reported today out of which 70 are active,” said Rohit Kansal, the government spokesperson. “Four of the new cases are from Kashmir while one came into light in Jammu.”

On Thursday, eight people had tested positive for novel coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir among which five were from Jammu region, while three others belonged to Kashmir region of the Union Territory.

Furthermore, till yesterday  17677 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been put under surveillance which include 10694 persons in home quarantine including in facilities operated by government, 622 in Hospital Quarantine, 65 in hospital isolation and 4109 under home surveillance. Besides, 2187 persons have completed their 28 days surveillance period.
