Jammu and Kashmir Police has arrested a youth and registered a formal case against him for declaring an girl as COVID-19 positive patient on Faecbook in Budgam, central Kashmir.

A 21-year-old girl from Sonpah area of Beerwah village in Budgam had recently arrived her home from Chandigarh. After developing fever, she visited a Sub-District Hospital where her samples were taken that turn out negative.

A day after that, fake post was circulated about this girl being tested positive for the virus was circulated on Facebook. Following this, her family approached Police Station Beerwah.

A police official told that after verification it came to knowleadge that a youth, identified as Khalid Latif, was spreading this rumour on Facebook, reported KNT.

“An FIR vide number 82/2020 under section 505 B, 188 has been registered in this regard and the accused is lodged in lock-up,” said the police official and appealed people to stop circulating fake reports on social media. (KNT)
