Baramulla: Suspected militants shot dead an independent Sarpanch in an orchard at Goush-Bugh village of Pattan in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday evening.
Official sources said that a sarpanch associated was shot dead by suspected militants in an orchard at Goush-Bugh village this evening.
The sarpanch has been identified as Manzoor Ahmad Bangroo of Goush-Bugh.
Meanwhile, the area has been cordoned off by government forces and the search operation has launched to nab the attackers.
Shortly after the attack police tweeted that slain Sarpanch was independent and not associated with BJP.
The police also added that the area has been cordoned off and search to track the involved militants is in progress.
Meanwhile, BJP J-K Spokesman Altaf Thakur strongly denounce the barbaric killing of Sarpanch Manzoor Ahmed Bangroo of Goshubugh, Pattan.
“Gruesome act, terrorists have nonreligion and mercy even during the fasting month of Ramadan. It is to clarify that slain Sarpanch was not affiliated with BJP as reported by a section of press,” he said.
