Baramulla: Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) RS Reen, who hails from a village in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, has taken over as Director General at Army Headquarters in Delhi.
Lt Gen Reen is the first from the Valley and from the community to rise to the rank from his area.
An alumnus of St. Joseph High School, Baramulla, he graduated in Electrical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Srinagar.
The General Officer’s wife, Smt Satbir Kour, is also from Baramulla and works as an officer in LIC at Delhi. The General Officer is an alumnus of the Indian Military Academy.
Prior to being Director General, he was Additional Director General at Delhi and has held various prestigious appointments in his career spanning over 37 years.
