Two militants have been killed in an ongoing gunfight in Shalgul forest in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday.
Inspector-General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar told that two militants have been killed in Shalgul forest.
Talking to a news gathering agency Asian News International (ANI) Kumar said that the two militants belonged to the Jaish-Mohammad outfit.
It is a deep forest however forces managed to engage militants, the identity of the slain militant is yet to be ascertained, IGP added.
Earlier, reports said that a joint team of Police and Army’s 3RR launched a cordon and search operation in Shalgul forest.
As the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off an gunfight.(GNS)
