Srinagar: The police has apprehended seventeen men in the aftermath of Pulwama gunfight on 3 June, reported a local news agency, Kashmir News Trust.
Local residents told KNT that since 3 June, police in multiple raids has arrested 17 men on the allegations of stone-throwing. They added that among the apprehended persons, one is a lecturer, who according to the residents, was picked up in place of his brother.
In the gunfight, three militants, including an IED expert Ikram alias Faujibhai and two locals militants, were killed in Kangan village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
All men are the residents of Muran village of the district.
Locals identified the apprehended youth as Ajaz Darzi, Abdul Rashid Darzi, Mehraj Dhobi, Nazir Dhobi, Mukhtar Sheikh, Bashir Sheikh, Showkat Sheikh, Ali Muhammad Sheikh, Rizwan Sheikh, Muhammad Shafi Sheikh, Abdul Latif Sheikh, Muhammad Ismail Sheikh, Muhammad Yousuf Yatoo, Mehraj Ganaie, Khazir Ganaie, Shabir Wani, Abdul Rasheed Wani, Hilal Malyar, Muhammad Abdullah Malyar, Adil Ganaie, Bashir Ganai, Mohsin Sheikh, Muhamamd Ashraf Sheikh, Irfan Yatoo, Irfan Rather, Ajaz Sheikh, Abdul Salam Sheikh, and Tawseef Sheikh. The lecturer has been identified as Majid Yousuf Yatoo.
A police official declined to comment on the subject. (KNT)
