The Jammu and Kashmir Administration did not allow the mandatory congregation Friday prayers at Central Mosque in Srinagar for 27th straight week on Friday.

For 27th consecutive Friday, Jamia Masjid was shut down by the authorities. Closing down of Jamia Masjid violates the fundamental right to practice religion of citizens,” Anjuman Auqaf in a press release said.

Anjuman said that despite repeated appeals to the authorities to allow Friday prayers they do not allow to open the central mosque.

Meanwhile, the Anjuman Auqaf said that All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Umar Farooq completed two-and-a-half-years of house detention on Friday.

Anjuman Auqaf said that the Mirwaiz is being prevented from fulfilling his traditional religious obligations and responsibilities as the Mirwaiz.

Anjuman has once again appealed to the authorities to allow the mandatory Friday prayers at Jamia Mosque and to release Mirwaiz from house detention.
