A BDC member has gone underground and is evading arrest after police booked him on charges of abduction in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

Sources told a local news agency, Kashmir News Trust that a BDC member for Naninara Sumbal Block of Sonawari Abdul Hameed Kaloo was allegedly harassing a married woman who also hails from Naninara area.

Police Station Sumbal received a complaint filed by Aijaz Ahmed Kaloo wherein it was stated that BDC member Abdul Hameed Kaloo abducted his wife who is mother of two little children.

A police official confirmed to KNT that a case under section 363 has been registered against Hameed Kaloo who is still absconding.

Locals have demanded that stringent punishment should be given to the accused. They said the act on part of BDC members is immoral and it has brought a disrepute to the Naninara Block. (KNT)
