Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday said it have recovered old dump of arms and ammunition in a village in Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

In a statement, a spokesperson said a search operation was launched in Shalnar Hangnikoot on Saturday during which old dump of arms and ammunition was unearthed.

The statement reads that the recovered arms and ammunition include and AK 47 rifle with 02 magazines and 75 rounds, 10 grenades, 26 UBGL grenades, 08 UBGL boosters, 02 Flame throwers, 05 Rocket shells and 03 rocket boosters.

“A case FIR No 19/2023 under relevant sections of law in this regard has been registered at Police Station Vilgam and investigation has been initiated,” it reads. (KNO)
