Jammu and Kashmir Police said to have arrested two alleged drug peddlers on recovery of a huge consignment of contraband substance from the possession of accused duo in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

The district police Anantnag in a statement issued to a local news agency, Global News Service (GNS) said that a police party from Police Post Sangam during routine Naka on NHW 44 near Sangam Chowk, intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK03A-3234 driven by Muzaffar Ah Das, a resident of Waghama Bijbehara alongwith another on board person namely Fayaz Ahmed Bhat, a resident of Katriteng.

During search of the vehicle about 57 kgs of Poppy Straw (Fukki) were recovered from the said vehicle, it said.

The accused duo was arrested and a case FIR No. 183/2021 under relevant sections of the law registered in Police Station Bijbehara for due investigations into the matter, it further said. (GNS)
