A 35-year-old man was killed Thursday afternoon when a sand cave that he and other laborers were digging collapsed onto him, authorities said.
They said some laborers were tunneling into the side of a sand dune in the Rangpath forest area of Kralgund Handwara when the sand caved in.
The laborer identified as Nisar Ahmed Sofi son of Abdul Aziz Sofi, a resident of Rangpath village died on the spot.
Other laborers were partially buried but were able to dig themselves out safely.
The deceased was shifted to CHC Kralgund for postmortem. (KNT)
