The body of a 33-year-old man was recovered at Cherkoot area of Kupwara district on Saturday, a fortnight after he went missing from his residence, officials said.

They said the man, Javaid Ahmad Mir son of Mohammad Dilawar Mir of Izgund Khumriyal Kupwara had left his residence on 15 January but neither returned back to his home nor went to any of his relatives.

A manhunt was launched but he could not be traced until his body was found near Cherkoot, a forest area. A missing report was filed with the concerned police station on 19 January.

A police officer confirmed that the body has been found. “Investigations have been launched in this regard.” (GNS)
