Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday said that 33 people involved in narcotics smuggling have been detained and lodged in different jails under Public Safety Act (PSA) during the current year in the frontier Kupwara district.

As per a local news agency, Kashmir News Observer (KNO), police said that during the ongoing year, 85 cases have been registered against 161 persons, who were involved in the drug menace across the district.

It also said that 33 people involved in narcotics smuggling have been detained and lodged in different jails under PSA (PIT-NDPS Act).

A senior police officer said that anyone found involved in the drug menace will not be spared in the district. “Kupwara police have done a lot of operations against drug menace this year and will continue to do so in the future,” he said.

Meanwhile, the district police appealed to people to desist from indulging in such activities otherwise strict action under law will be taken against the involved persons. (KNO)
