Kupwara: Two minors died after they fell into an open pit in Chakdar Mohalla Gagbal in Lolab area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara village on Tuesday.
A contractor has reportedly been detained for questioning.
Both the victims around 6 year old were identified as Mustafa Qasim Bhadana and Sumaiya Akhter.
Locals told news agency Kashmir News Trust that both were playing when they fell into the pit at Chakdar Mohalla of Gagal village of picturesque Lolab Valley.
They were rushed to a hospital where doctors declared them dead on arrival.
The victims fell into the dug that had been dug by a contractor who has been held for questioning.
Police have registered a case and an investigation is underway. (KNT)
