Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday late evening said that two militants associated with Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) were killed in a ‘swift gunfight’ in Srinagar.
In the operation, the police said that one policeman also received minor injuries.
“Two #terrorists of proscribed terror outfit LeT neutralised by Srinagar Police in a swift encounter in Bemina area of Srinagar,” tweeted Kashmir Zone Police, quoting police chief Vijay Kumar.
The militants were identified as Pakistani Abdullah Gojri and a local militant Adil Hussain Mir.
In series of tweets, the Kashmir Police Zone wrote: “As per the documents and other incriminating materials, one of the killed militant has been identified as Abdullah Goujri, resident of Faisalabad, Pakistan. A big success.”
In another tweet they added: “This was the same group of militants, who escaped from Sopore encounter. We have been tracking their movement.”
“As per documents recovered from another killed militant, he has been identified as Adil Hussain Mir @ Sufian @ Musab of Anantnag district. As per police records, he crossed over to Pakistan in 2018 on visit VISA from Wagah.”
Earlier, in Sopore gunfight one militant was killed while as two militants had managed to escape from the spot.
