Budgam: Two drug peddlers have been booked under Public Safety Act in central Kashmir’s Budgam district, police said here on Thursday.

According to a statement, spokesperson said that two drug peddlers identified as Shabir Ahmed Sofi alias JK son of Abdul Khaliq Sofi of Mazhama Magam and Asif Nazir Rather son of Nazir Ahmed Rather of Archanderhama Budgam have been booked under PSA.

The statement reads that the drug peddlers have been lodged in District Jail Reasi. “The accused persons were involved in NDPS cases and were promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of district Budgam.”

It reads that general public of Budgam appreciated the role of Police for their action against drug peddlers. “Our consistent actions against the drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from drug abuse,” it added. (KNO)
