Two army personnel held with two local women near Srinagar airport: Report

Two army personnel and two local women were held outside Srinagar airport on Saturday morning, reported a local news agency Kashmir Dot Com. However, police while denying the report claimed that the army personnel didn’t know the women.

The agency quoted unnamed sources stating that two local women along with two army personnel were caught by local shopkeepers at the Srinagar Airport market on Saturday morning in rented rooms in the jurisdiction of police post Humhama in Budgam.

The Army personnel are said to be from 2-RR and women are said to be from Singhpora Pattan, the agency reported.

The age of women has not been confirmed so far.

All the caught persons were handed over to Police post in Humhama and investigations have been set into motion. “All are in police custody and investigation into the matter is going on,” he added.

However, later police issued a statement and said that two local ladies were already having their food at the spot when some miscreants tried to create scene which attracted attention of some of the locals. “Police immediately reached the spot and intervened. During preliminary investigation it was found that the army personnel and the women were not together and also not known to each other. Later the ladies were handed over to their parents.”
