Srinagar: In a major violation of government orders, a few tourists were seen inside the Tulip Garden on Monday.

The State Executive Committee in view of spurt in Covid-19 cases had ordered closure of all paid parks across Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the news agency—Kashmir Newe Observer (KNO), a group of tourists were seen taking selfies inside the sprawling Tulip garden in lap of Zabarwan mountain range overlooking famous Dal Lake, raising many eye-brows. The pictures of the same went viral on social media platforms.

Interestingly, a poster pasted on the main entry gate of the garden read: “In view of Covid, garden closed for visitors.”

Pertinently, the decision to close the garden was taken in view of the spike in Covid-19 positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir after 2381 Covid-19 Positive cases were reported on Sunday.

Government’s Official Twitter handle on Sunday posted a tweet that read: “Due to the prevailing COVID situation in J&K, State Executive Committee, in exercise of the powers conferred upon it under section 24 of Disaster Management Act, 2005, hereby orders that all paid public parks in the UT of J&K shall remain closed for visitors till further orders.”

Commissioner Secretary Floriculture Sheikh Fayaz while speaking to KNO, said that he will get it checked, however we have already closed the parks as per the orders of the SEC.

“I will get it checked and get back to you”, he said—(KNO)
