Srinagar: Three militants were killed in a gunfight at Chewa Ullar area of Tral in Awantipora of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

A local news gathering agency Global News Service (GNS) reported that three militants were killed in the gunfight. However, he said, the identity of the slain militants was yet to be ascertained.

Two AK-47 rifles were also recovered from their possession.

They said, during an exchange of firing the whole house caught fire where militants were hiding.

Pertinently, the operation was suspended yesterday evening due to the darkness, the operation was resumed in the morning, they said.

Earlier, a joint team of Police, Army’s 42 RR and 180 BN of CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Chewa Ullar.

As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off a gunfight.(GNS)
