All the three unidentified militants  killed in a gunfight that broke out between militants and government forces at Kawarigam village of Achabal hamlet in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday are locals and belong to Laahkar e Toiba outfit, police said.

IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar told a local news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a joint team of Police, Army’s 19 RR and CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) on specific information about the presence of militants in the area in the afternoon.

He said that as the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering a gunfight.

In the ensuing gunfight, three unidentified militants have been killed while the search operation is going on in the area. ” All three are locals and they were affiliated with LeT outfit,” the IGP said—(KNO)
