Srinagar: Suspected militants on Friday evening hurled a grenade on a Central Reserve Police Forces’ bunker in Noorbagh area of Srinagar.

Confirming the attack, Jammu and Kashmir Police tweeted from handle, Kashmir Zone Police, “#Terrorists lobbed a #grenade in Noorbagh area of Srinagar. Further details shall follow.@JmuKmrPolice.”

Ahead of the Republic-day security has been beefed up in Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir with a massive deployment of the government forces around the venues of the 26 January functions across the Valley.

It will be the first Republic Day celebrations in the Valley after the centre abrogated the Article 370 in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir’s in August 2019.
