“Suffering from mental trauma”: Kashmiri female students stuck in UP demand evacuation

Srinagar: At least a dozen female students from different parts of Kashmir, who are stuck in Badshahi Bagh, Uttar Pardesh, said that the continuous lockdown has affected their mental health and they are in a state of depression.

A female student complained about the mental health issues and said that the group wants to return home as they can’t sustain there anymore.

The students said that they had booked tickets before the lockdown but they were rescheduled and second time they were cancelled forcing them to stay put.

“Even though government is providing all kinds of support but our mental state is totally disturbed and affected,” the students complained.

The students said they are enrolled at Glocal University, Badshahi Bagh in Uttar Pardesh, comprising of at least a dozen female students and two male colleagues from different parts of Kashmir including, Kupwara, Srinagar, Ganderbal, and Anantnag.

The students complained that the prolonged lockdown has impacted their mental health and they can’t sustain there anymore if the lockdown continues.

They demanded immediate evacuation and requested the government of Uttar Pradesh and Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to put in some concrete steps to facilitate their return at an earliest. (KNO)
