The ASG Eye Hospital in Qamarwari area of Srinagar city has installed a new and advanced machine for Vitreo-retinal surgery to deal with diseases of the vitreous and retina, said a company representative.
Previously, the hospital had a similar machine for vitreoretinal surgeries but the Alcon Constellation, as per Dr. Shazia Shafi, Consultant Cateract and glaucoma surgeon at ASG Eye Hospital, is far better than the previous one.
“Alcon Constellation machine is for the first time in Valley’s private hospital,” said Dr. Shafi. “The machine is allowing surgeons to perform efficient and safer surgeries.” AGS Eye Hospital had been started to give the best eye care solution to the patients, said Shafi. Dr. Atif Ali Mir, who heads the VR department, said, “This is the latest and the best retinal machine available in the world.”
“The hospital was started 4 years ago and since then the number of patients who used to go outside the valley for treatment has decreased,” she added. “The machine that we have installed now gives an edge further.”
