Srinagar: As the untimely snowfall has done severe damage to the orchards in rural areas, Srinagar city on Saturday witnessed the coldest day in 39 years.
According to the meteorological department (MET), Srinagar recorded the minimum temperature in Srinagar plummeting to 6.6 degree celsius.
Talking with The Kashmir Walla, MET director Sonum Lotus said that it was on 28 October, 1982 when the maximum day temperature of 5.0°C was recorded.
Meanwhile, according to the meteorological department (MET) rain and snow has decreased considerably from North and Central Kashmir and many areas of Jammu region.
“We expect further decrease in rain, snowfall from the whole J-K. Overall, improvement is most likely from tomorrow,” the MET said.
“Thereafter, no significant weather is expected for the next 10 days,” it said.
