Srinagar: The 270 kilometer-long stretch Srinagar Jammu national highway will remain closed for traffic movement for maintenance and repairs for tomorrow (Friday).

Traffic authorities confirmed to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said, ” The traffic will remain suspended on 05-02-2021 on Friday on Srinagar Jammu national highway for maintenance and repairs and no vehicular movement will be allowed for tomorrow.”

Earlier, in the morning Traffic was temporarily suspended on Srinagar-Jammu national highway in view of the snowfall at Jawahar Tunnel, which was later restored after clearing the snow at Jawahar Tunnel.

Traffic authorities had earlier confirmed to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) due to the snowfall in the morning at Jawahar tunnel traffic on Srinagar-Jammu national highway was temporarily suspended.

“The traffic was later restored on the highway after clearing the road from snow and as per the Traffic plan, Traffic from Jammu was allowed to move towards the valley”, an official told KNO.

In a communiqué by Traffic Police Headquarters J&K which read, “Tomorrow on 05-02-2021,No vehicular movement shall be allowed from either side on Jammu-Srinagar NHW in view of maintenance/repairing of the road.”

Meanwhile, Mughal road continues to remain closed due to snow accumulation, reads the communique. (KNO)
