Srinagar-Jammu highway will remain shut for traffic on Wednesday and Srinagar-Leh highway will remain closed on Friday this week due to maintenance and repair works, the Traffic department said. 

The Traffic Police Headquarters said there shall be no traffic movement on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NHW) on Wednesday “from either side in view of maintenance (and) repairing of the NHW”. 

The department further said that there shall be no traffic movement on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road “from either side in view of maintenance (and) repairing on Zoji La axis”.

It said the passenger traffic shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar highway on Tuesday subject to fair weather and better road condition. 

“LMVs(Passenger) shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW viz Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa . TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing the traffic,” the department said.

The cut-off timing for the Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) from Nagrota in Jammu has been put between 6 am to 12 pm, at Jhakeni in Udhumpur between 7 am to 1 pm, at Zig near Qazigund between 7 am and 1 pm.

“No Vehicle shall be allowed before and after cut off timing,” the department said.

The department said the convoys of government forces “may ply from Srinagar towards Jammu after confirming the status of NHW”. “Security Forces are advised/requested not to ply against advisory/traffic plan in view of traffic congestion on Jammu-Srinagar NHW,” it said.

The department said the LMVs from both sides and HMVs from Srinagar towards Poonch shall be allowed on Mughal Road while shall also be allowed from both sides and HMVs from Srinagar towards Kargil on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road.
