Srinagar: In a swift move, the district administration Srinagar has announced payment of Rupees 15 lakh compensation in favour of Next of Kin (NoK) of Khanyar fire victims.

The District Development Commissioner Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary told GNS that the 15 lakh would be deposited in the account of the girl namely Soheda Javid (8) who lost her parents and 4-year-old sister in the tragic fire incident.

The government will also bear education and the other expenses of the girl child, the Deputy Commissioner said.

As per the procedure, the amount would go in a joint account of the girl and the DC and the money along with interest would be given to the girl after she attains age of 18-years.

As reported already a couple, Javid Ahmad Hakak (40), his wife Sobiya (28) and their daughter Hafsa (4) were burnt alive after their house was completely damaged in the overnight fire incident at Sheeshgari Mohalla of Khanyar in Old City Srinagar. (GNS)
