The Srinagar District Magistrate has taken suo motu cognizance of the physical thrashing of a student at a private coaching centre by a faculty member.
The SDM has called the Managing Director of HOPE Classes Parraypora for recording a statement in his court at 10:00 am on 15 April, an order issued by the office of the officer reads.
Earlier in the day, a teacher at the private coaching center in Srinagar thrashed a student garnering anger towards the said faculty member on social media from netizens.
A video of the act went viral on the social media. In the video, a teacher who has been identified as Fayaz Ahmad Zewali, can be seen slapping a student repeatedly even as the student does not react, “Permission mangni thi (Did you seek permission?) is what the teacher who teaches Chemistry at a coaching centre in Parraypora area of Srinagar, can be heard asking the terrified student.
Social media users had called for action against the said teacher.
