The man who was found dead near flood channel behind JVC Sher-e-Kashmir Insititute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Bemina on Monday, was tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday, reported a local news agency, Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

Unidentified official sources told the agency that after recovering the body from flood channel Bemina, it was taken to Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar for postmortem.

However, postmortem wasn’t conducted as the semi decomposed body was tested positive for COVID-19. The deceased was later identified by DNA reports as a man from HMT Srinagar who was missing since 24 July 2020.

The body has been handed over to his family as per COVID protocol. (KNO)
