Rana, Salathia set to join BJP in New Delhi on Monday

Srinagar: After tendering his resignation from basic membership of the National Conference (NC) on Sunday, provincial president Jammu Devender Singh Rana is all set to join arch-rival Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at its party headquarters in New Delhi tomorrow.

Sources told The Kashmir Walla that Rana along with former minister Surjeet Singh Salathia would be joining BJP tomorrow at the BJP HQ Delhi.

General Secretary, Arun Singh along with Rana’s Brother Dr Jatinder Singh, one Union Minister, MP Jugal Kishore, two former Deputy Chief Ministers, State BJP President Ravinder Raina shall be present there, sources said.

Earlier, Rana and Salathia resigned from the basic membership of the NC.

“Dr Farooq Abdullah has received & accepted the resignations of Mr Salathia & Mr Rana. No further action or comment is deemed necessary (sic),” NC tweeted from their official twitter handle.

Soon after their resignation, NC General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar nominated senior leader Advocate Rattan Lal Gupta as interim Provincial President of Jammu Province till election process for the post is completed

NC issued notification regarding elections for the post of provincial presidents for Jammu and Kashmir to be held on 16th October 2021.

As per the official statement, senior party leaders Choudhary Muhammad Ramzan and Ali Muhammad Dar have been nominated as election officers for Kashmir province and Dr Sheikh Mustufa Kamal and Anil Dhar for Jammu Province.

Talking with the media in Jammu, Rana, a former MLA from Nagrota, said that quitting NC would help him to focus on the “Jammu declaration” which is based to provide the rights of Jammu people.
