India’s controversial Yoga guru, Ramdev, has mocked medics by saying that a thousand of them have died despite receiving both doses of vaccine and claimed he himself is a doctor with “divinity and dignity”.
“One thousand doctors died even after taking both the doses of COVID vaccine,” he said in a video broadcast on the Aastha channel that went viral on Monday.
Last week, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) on Saturday said that as many as 420 doctors have succumbed to the COVID-19 during the second wave in the country that started around March 2021, reported Business Today.
“We are not confident about the vaccination status of all, but by the data we got, not (being) fully vaccinated is the main cause (of the deaths),” IMA President Dr. JA Jayalal said as per the report.
In the viral video, Ramdev mentioned the report and said that the doctors in the country “weren’t even able to save themselves, then what kind of doctors are they?”
He added: “Become a doctor like Swami Ramdev who doesn’t have a degree yet he is a doctor of all… with divinity and dignity I am a doctor.”
Earlier, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) had said that the health ministry should take action against the yoga guru for alleging that “lakhs have died from taking allopathic medicines for Covid-19”.
