As the Ram Navami was celebrated with religious fervor and gaiety across Jammu & Kashmir, the Kashmiri Pandits on Thursday carried out a Shoba Yatra in Srinagar city areas.

Tight security arrangements were made by the authorities in wake of the Shoba Yatra, which started from Kathleshwar temple here in Tankipora area of Srinagar.

The yatra passed through the Habbakadal, Ganpathyar, Lal Chowk and Jahangir Chowk, witnesses said.

They said that the participants, especially the children, were seen dressed in traditional attire while chanting slogans.

Witnesses said that the traffic along the routes was stopped to ensure smooth yatra, adding that during the yatra, the local Muslims were seen greeting the KPs on the occasion of Ram Navmi.

One of the participants said that adequate arrangements have been made by the administration in wake of the Shoba yatra.

“This yatra is being carried out every year on this day. The local Muslims also extend their support to us,” he said.

Another participant from Mathura, said that it is a pleasure to celebrate such an occasion in Kashmir. “I usually visit Kashmir on this occasion to celebrate the festival,” she said. (KNO)
