Inhabitants at Qalamabad are protesting after a Jammu and Kashmir Bank branch cashier allegedly manhandled a customer this morning.

Eyewitnesses told a local news agency, Global News Service (GNS) said that the routine functioning of JK Bank branch at Qalamabad got disrupted as a queuing customer was manhandled by a cashier when he asked the latter for quickening the transaction process. The comment apparently enraged the cashier, who went on to slap the person several times and also took away the cash and flung it, they said.

The alleged victim has been identified as Tariq Ahmad Bhat, a local shopkeeper, who had approached to deposit the cash amount of ninety seven thousand rupees at the native bank branch.

The eyewitnesses said that the person has lost some part of the cash.

Soon as the news spread, the locals including shopkeepers assembled outside the premises of the bank branch demanding action against the erring bank staffer.

Meanwhile when contacted, Branch Head JK Bank Qalamabad, Khalid Dar, feigned ignorance on the incident. “I don’t have any information about it, ask them to come to me I will see”, he told GNS. (GNS)
