Reporters and mediapersons have been disallowed from reaching Syed Ali Shah Geelani’s residence in Srinagar’s Hyderpora area, several journalists told The Kashmir Walla.

Amid the heavy deployment, the reporters and photojournalists have been stopped more than 500 meters away from his residence by the personnel. Concentrine wires and barricades have been installed on several major streets of the city, including Hyderpora area.

Preparations for the midnight burial of Geelani, the veteran pro-freedom Kashmiri leader who died of prolonged illness on Wednesday night, are underway in Hyderpora. A grave is being dug 300 meters from his residence.
