Srinagar: A Deputy Superintendent and his Personal Security Officer (PSO) were among several persons injured on Friday amid clashes in Nasrullahpora area of Budgam district, Central Kashmir.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Budgam, Amod Nagpure, said that “some miscreants were forcing shops dealing with essential communities to shut” and a police team, headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police, Fayaz Hussain, visited the locality to disperse them.
The police used batons and tear smoke shells to chase away the protesters, in which DySP Hussain sustained head injury. He alongside his injured PSO were moved to hospital.
The SSP said that action will be taken against the “miscreants”. He also denied that people were offering prayers in absentia for the Hizbul Mujahideen operational commander, Riyaz Naikoo, killed on Wednesday. (GNS)
