Police files chargesheet against 3 OGWs in Ganderbal militant attack

Police here in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district filed a charge sheet against overground workers (OGWs) allegedly involved in Ganderbal attack.

Pertinently, last year on 6 October, militants carried out an attack on BJP District Vice President at his native village Nunner Ganderbal.

Militants fired upon the protected person, however the PSOs quickly retaliated back resulting in on-spot death of one militant namely Shabir Ahmad Shah of Jangalnar Awantipora.

During the brief exchange of fire, one PSO Constable Altaf Hussain also got seriously injured and later succumbed to injuries. Arms and ammunition were also recovered from the possession of slain militant.

Policer as per news agency Kashmir News Trust subsequently filed an FIR under relevant sections at Police Station Ganderbal.

Police said that during the course of investigation, three active OGWs of banned outfit Hizbul Mujhadeen namely Qaiser Ahmad Sheikh, Aasif Khazir Mir residents of Serch Ganderbal and Hilal Ahmad Mir of Burnbugh Kangan were arrested in the instant case, as all three were part of criminal conspiracy and worked as OGWs with the banned outfit HM in carrying out attack on the said BJP leader. Arms/ammunitions, detonators, Pakistan flags were recovered on their disclosures and investigation concluded.

“After obtaining the sanction of prosecution form the Government of J-K, Challan against the three accused persons was produced before the Competent Hon’ble court of law for its judicial determination,” police said. (KNT)
