The Jammu and Kashmir police and army recovered two pistols, its seventy rounds, and two grenades from bushes along the Line of Control (LoC) in Dabbi village of Balakote sector in Mendhar, on Wednesday.
The arms and ammunition were kept there by militants and were recovered on the disclosure of three over ground workers (OGWs) arrested last Sunday, reported a local news agency, Global News Service (GNS).
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Poonch Ramesh Angral said that during questioning of arrested militant associate Yaseen Khan, some vital clues on his confession were developed after which a team of police headed by Sub Divisional Police Officer Mendhar Zaheer Jafri along with army launched an operation in the area and recovered the arms and ammunition kept in a polythene bag in bushes.
He said militant outfits were trying to target religious places of Poonch but their “nefarious designs” have been foiled by army and police. (GNS)
