Srinagar: Panic gripped Haril area in north Kashmir’s Handwara after a roaming black bear took shelter in a local school on Sunday afternoon.

Reports said that the bear, first sighted in the residential area, after being chased by locals took shelter inside Government Middle School Haril.

The locals have alleged that despite the beast striking fear and panic among the residents, none of the Wildlife Department officials’ was in sight to help them.

“They (Wildlife Department) officials haven’t visited here despite several intimations to them”, the locals said.
