Brother of a Panch allegedly fired from his 12-Bore rifle after unknown persons pelted stones on the house of Panch in Kalaroos area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

The incident occurred during the intervening night of 7 and 8 June.

Sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that some unknown persons pelted stones on the house of a Panch at Shundi Thayen area of Kalaroos.

Ward Number 2, Thayen B, Panch has been identified as Muhammad Maqbool Malik son of Abdul Aziz Malik.

Local sources added that some window panes of the house were damaged in stone-thrown incident. They said that brother of the Panch in self-defense fired a single shot in the air from his 12-Bore rifle.

Police rushed to the spot to assess the situation, while the stone-throwers fled from the area.

When contacted a police official said that matter is being investigated. (KNT)
