The Pakistan Army on Thursday carried out the ‘Zarb-e-Hadeed’ exercise in Bahawalpur city of Punjab province.
The move is seen as a bid to enhance the combat skills in the desert and plain areas of the army
‘Zarb-e-Hadeed’ is a corps-level exercise aimed at enhancing operational preparedness and synergy amongst various components of forces, the ARY news quoted Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) as saying. The drill is held every year to train the soldiers in different terrains.
“The exercise areas cover a vast expanse of desert and plains where the participating units are rehearsing various response measures under testing weather conditions, challenging terrain and actual battlefield environment,” the ISPR said.
The ISPR further stated that the participating units displayed a high level of synergy and professionalism during the assembly, move, tactical combat and firepower demonstration phases of the exercise.
Earlier this year, Pakistan Army had conducted the ‘Jidar-ul-Hadeed’ exercise to test the operational capability of field formations operating in the desert near the battlefield environment.
