On Saturday, one-way traffic was resumed on the Srinagar-Jammu highway after remaining suspended for maintenance on Friday, while the national highway, the only road connecting Ladakh region with Kashmir, and the Mughal road remained closed due to accumulation of snow and slippery road conditions, reported a news agency, United News of India.

”We resumed traffic this morning on the national highway, the only all-weather road linking Kashmir valley with the rest of the country, after day-long suspension on Friday to allow National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and Border Roads Organisation (BRO) to undertake weekly maintenance and repair work,” an unnamed traffic police official told UNI today.

Jammu bound Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) will have to cross Zig, Qazigund between 7 am to 12 pm. This will follow Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) to Jammu, he told UNI, adding that no vehicle will be allowed after cut off timing.

He added that the government forces’ vehicles will also ply from Srinagar to Jammu. He said that due to the accumulation of snow and slippery road conditions Srinagar-Leh national highway and historic Mughal road, linking Shopian in south Kashmir with Rajouri and Poonch in the Jammu region remained closed.
