Ganderbal: The Srinagar-Kargil highway was thrown open for one-way traffic on Wednesday after its closure due to landslides at multiple locations.

After the incessant rains, landslides and shooting stones blocked the highway at Captain Mode, Crusher Mode, Cheeni Nallah, and Bajri Nallah near Zojila Pass.

Beacon authorities mobilized its manpower and cleared the road for the traffic.

A Beacon official said that road has been cleared from all the debris and stones from the affected locations.

In-charge Police Post Minimarg told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that Light and Heavy Motor Vehicles were allowed to ply from Minimarg to Sonmarg on Wednesday.

Another official said that highway was thrown open for the traffic for the vehicles plying from Kargil to Srinagar while no vehicle was allowed to cross the Zojila Pass from Sonmarg on Wednesday. (KNT)
