The army has issued a statement on the gunfight that happened in Amshipora village of Shopian on 18 July, wherein the forces had claimed to have killed three militants.

However, three families from Rajouri have claimed that the killed persons were their kins and not militants. The family members claimed that they were “labourers”, who are missing from the last three weeks have filed a written report with the police.

The army said that it has “noted social media inputs linked to the operation at Shopian on 18 Jul 2020,” and reasserted that three militants were “killed during the operation have not been identified and the bodies were buried based on established protocols.”

The army further said that it “is investigating the matter.”
