A newly recruited militant was arrested amid a cordon-and-search-operation in Pulwama district of south Kashmir on Thursday, officials said.

They said based on specific information about the presence of the militants, a joint CASO was launched by police and army’s 55 RR at Main Town Pulwama.

During the searches, an unnamed police officer told a local news agency, Global News Service (GNS) that one youth identified as Vilyat Aziz Mir alias Rasik son of Abdul Aziz Mir of Banpora Kakpora was arrested along with a pistol and a grenade.

Welayat, they said, was missing since February and had joined the militant ranks. (GNS)
